The Freedom Township Board of Review meets at specified times to discuss challenges and review of the Assessment Roll. Members must be residents and property owners in the township. They have authority to adjust assessed valuations on property based on landowner disagreement with the assessment and can adjust taxable valuations in some cases. Members serve a three-year appointed term. There is no charge for appeal to the Board of Review. Hearings for individual claims are held in March, as noted on assessment change notices received at the beginning of March. Mutual mistakes in assessment are corrected in July and December meetings, if needed.

The Freedom Township March Board of Review will meet on the following dates:
- Tuesday, March 5, 2023, 3:00pm-4:00pm - Organizational Meeting
- (No property assessment appeals will be heard at this meeting)
- Monday, March 11, 2023, 12:00pm-5:00pm and 6:00pm-9:00pm - Appeal Hearing
- Tuesday, March 12, 2023, 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm - Appeal Hearing
The Board of Review will meet to hear questions, protests, and to equalize the 2024 assessments. We encourage write-ins and have an option for virtual by phone if the need arises.

The Assessing Department phone hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm except for observed holidays. For same day in-person assistance you may visit the County Equalization office at 222 N. Main, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 or call (734) 222-6662.
An estimated response time for taxpayer inquiries is usually within one or two business days but not to exceed 7 business days. This also applies to in-person meetings with an official or an employee of the assessor’s office for purposes of discussing an inquiry. If a taxpayer has a request for an inspection or production of records that are maintained by the assessor’s office, they can call or e-mail one of the contacts below in our department and we will set up an appointment or e-mail the information requested. A taxpayer can meet with an Assessing Department employee or can call or e-mail the above contacts to informally discuss questions or resolve concerns before the March meeting of the Board of Review.
