3. The Planning Commission drafted and the Board of Trustees recently adopted General Ordinance Chapter 35 - Private Community Wastewater Systems. The ordinance may be viewed by clicking here. It is the Township’s intent in passing this Ordinance to regulate all private community wastewater systems in the Township. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) is authorized to issue permits for private community on-site wastewater disposal systems that serve more than one property (referred to as a “private community wastewater system” or PCWS). The Township recognizes that regulation of the private community wastewater systems is necessary to protect the quality of surface waters and groundwater resources in the Township.
