Notice of Public Hearing-Zoning Ordinance Amendments (Solar Energy) Tuesday, Aug. 3rd at 7:30pm

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. in the Freedom Township Hall (11508 Pleasant Lake Road) to invite public comment on proposed amendments to articles 6.0 (General Provisions), 10.0 (Supplementary Development Provisions), and 19.0 (Definitions) of the Freedom Township Zoning Ordinance No. 43 for the purpose of inserting new and updated provisions for solar energy facilities and devices by authority of Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended.

The proposed amendments would update provisions for private freestanding and building-mounted solar energy devices in any zoning district, subject to an administrative Zoning Permit approval, and would add new requirements and standards that would apply to development of a commercial solar energy generation facility in the A-R (Agricultural-Resource) zoning district subject to a public hearing and Conditional Use Permit approval.

The proposed amendments may be viewed on the Township website at http://www.freedomtownshipmi.org/, or at the Township Hall by appointment with the Township Clerk, (734) 428-7545, extension 2.  Written comments on the proposed amendments may be mailed to the Freedom Township Planning Commission, Attn. Matt Little, Chair, 6100 Ernst Road, Manchester, MI 48158.
