Public Hearing- Jan. 4th, 2022 at 7:00pm Zoning ordinance Amendments for Solar Energy Facilities and Devices

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
SOLAR ENERGY FACILITIES AND DEVICES

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 
7:00 p.m. in the Freedom Township Hall (11508 Pleasant Lake Road) to invite public 
comment on proposed amendments to articles 6.0 (General Provisions), 10.0 
(Supplementary Development Provisions), and 19.0 (Definitions) of the Freedom 
Township Zoning Ordinance No. 43 for the purpose of inserting new and updated 
provisions for solar energy facilities and devices by authority of Public Act 110 of 2006, 
as amended. 

The proposed amendments would:

1. Add new requirements and standards that would apply to development of 
commercial solar energy generation facilities in the A-R (Agricultural-Resource) zoning district subject to a public hearing and Conditional Use Permit approval.

2. Update provisions for private freestanding and building-mounted solar 
energy devices in any zoning district, subject to administrative zoning permit 
approval.

Little, Chair, 6100 Ernst Road, Manchester, MI 48158; or may be sent via email to the 
Township’s planning consultant at Rodney@BuildingPlace.net. 

Per the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals who require special accommodations 
should contact the Township Clerk at least seven days prior to the hearing.

The regular Planning Commission meeting will begin following the hearing.
